Help Topic: Searching for Programs and Services

1. Select an area in which to search:
• All Areas shows all programs no matter where it is located.
• City shows all programs in the city of your choosing.
• County shows all programs in the county of your choosing.
• Metro Area shows all programs in the metropolitan area of your choosing.
2. Select a topic to find specific types of services:
You can select a service from the full listing (located on the right) or select a topic to show only services associated with that topic.
• All Keywords shows all keywords available.
• Basic Needs shows keywords describing services such as food programs, housing, material goods, transportation, and temporary financial aid.
• Consumer Services shows keywords describing services for the education and protection of consumers.
• Criminal Justice & Legal Services shows keywords describing services such as crime prevention, victim support, and legal assistance.
• Education shows keywords describing services such as Head Start, GED classes, special education, and home schooling.
• Health Care shows keywords describing services such as prevention of, screening of, and treatment for illness/diseases.
• Income Security shows keywords describing programs such as Social Security, Medicaid/Medicare, Food Stamps, employment assistance, and vocational rehabilitation.
• Individual & Family Life shows keywords describing services such as adoption, support groups, alternative living arrangements, and support for families.
• Medical Conditions/Disabilities shows keywords describing specific conditions, illnesses, and diseases.
• Mental Health Care & Counseling shows keywords describing services such as specific types of counseling, diagnosis and treatment for mental illness, and mental health facilities.
• Organizational/Community Services shows keywords describing services such as outreach programs that use volunteers to assist those in need – includes donation programs, volunteer opportunities, and seasonal assistance programs.
• Public Health & Safety shows keywords describing services that help protect the public by means of inspections, education, and training programs.
• Target Populations shows keywords describing groups of people by age, sex, race, religious affiliation, or sexual preference.
3. Click on the Search Now button and programs/services linked to your search criteria are displayed.

Moving through a list:

1. Click on an item in the list.
2. Press a letter A-Z on your keyboard.
3. Move to the first matching city/county/keyword.

2. Press the down arrow key to move down the list.

1. Click on the up arrow button to move up one item.
2. Click on the down arrow button to move down one item.
3. Drag the square to move quickly through the list.

To locate a service in a specific area:

• All Areas to show all programs no matter where it is located.
• A City to show all programs in the city of your choosing.
• Zip Code to show all programs in the zip code of your choosing.
